[Opening prayer]

It is written in Psalm 25:

Teach us your ways, O Lord;
make them known to us.
Teach us to live according to your truth,
for you are our God, who saves us.
We always trust in you.

Let's pray:

Heavenly Father,

We are gathered here as your family, eager to spend time with you but distracted by many things. So many things, perhaps, that merely listing them would become a distraction in itself. Thank you that we don't need to bother with the list. Thank you that you already know what troubles us. You know what's important to us. You know what's weighing us down.

Help us to turn to you with all our hearts so that we may understand the love you have for us. May we meet with you now and grow to know you better.

Share our burdens with us. Melt away our imperfections with the fire of your love. Remould us with the inspiration of your love. Strengthen us with the passion of your love. Show us how to love each other.

We are your people. Teach us, guide us, comfort us, send us.
